Problem
Swamps are the “lungs of the planet.” The benefits they provide are comparable to the benefits of forests. Every swamp is an amazing organism. Like all living things on earth, it breathes, but how?
Swamps absorb carbon dioxide and constantly release oxygen. Tons of pure oxygen.
Swamps are home to hundreds of different species of animals and plants. This is a whole unknown world, with its own laws and rules.
In the middle of the last century, the total area of ​​swamps in Belarus was 2940 thousand hectares (14.2% of the entire territory of the country). After 60 years, the area of ​​marshes on the territory of Belarus has decreased by 3.5 times and currently amounts to only 860 thousand hectares.
Unfortunately, the massive reclamation (draining) of swamps, which began in the middle of the last century, led to irreversible consequences, such as fires, drought, soil degradation and the complete destruction of certain species of animals and plants not only in Belarus, but throughout Eastern Europe.
Why is this happening?
It’s simple – minerals. The swamps are drained due to the extraction of fossil fuels – peat, which is used in the energy industry.
Until alternative energy sources are invented, humanity will continue to drain swamps, thereby creating irreparable damage to nature.
Humanity dreams of visiting Mars. For what? Very soon we will make a deserted “Mars” on our planet with our own hands…
Architecture of the future – as a solution to a problem
Everything starts with a thought.
The development of future technologies has contributed to the complete fusion of mechanisms and architecture. Modern architecture is no longer something stone, stationary and immovable. This is a living organism that can develop and be formed in relation to a specific task.
The task of The Marsh Tower is to restore drained swamps through abundant irrigation of these lands.
The design consists of 2 spheres connected by a system of cables.
The upper sphere, which is responsible for the movement (flight) of the entire structure, is a high-tech aerostat, covered on the outside with membrane fabric that accumulates condensate. The surface area of ​​the sphere, which is covered with such fabric, is more than 7000 m2, which allows you to collect thousands of liters of water per day.
The lower sphere is a reservoir for storing this water and irrigating future swamps.
The accumulated liquid from the upper sphere is moved to the lower one using a special system of pumps and cables.
Also in the upper and lower parts of the sphere there are research centers, classrooms and rooms for short-term stays of people inside The Marsh tower.
